Ladies Luncheon
Donning flowered visors were winners of the judges’ award for Best Group

The return of green grass, flowers bursting with color and ladies styling their Easter bonnets are just a few signs that spring is just around the corner.  The third annual Picnic on the Park Ladies Luncheon and Easter Bonnet Contest is the perfect opportunity to show off that bonnet and roll in the season of nature’s rebirth.  This year’s luncheon will take place 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 at the Nathaniel Center.

The event will begin with an opportunity to browse the offerings of a select group of vendors, including jewelry, cosmetics, pottery, cookbooks, handmade note cards and fashion and decorator items. While attendees are enjoying food prepared by Amedeo’s, fashion expert Cathy Fitzpatrick will present her “One Woman Fashion Show,” highlighting 2008 fashion trends.  The celebration will come to a close with the presentation of awards for the Easter bonnet contest, including individual awards for judges’ favorite, most festive, most creative and “you’ve got to be kidding me” as well as group awards for judges’ favorite.

The ladies luncheon is part of the Fifth Annual Picnic on the Park celebration which includes a full day of events Saturday, March 22 at Town Center Park, featuring an egg hunt, street fair, coloring contest and “Kingwood Idol” karaoke competition.  The annual spring fest was co-founded by Carla Alvarez of Legacy Marketing Services and Dawn Bajalieh of RE/MAX Associates Northeast and is supported by local businesses on behalf of charity.

“For the fourth year in a row, the luncheon and picnic events benefit Village Learning & Achievement Center – a really wonderful charity supporting people with disabilities in our community,” notes Alvarez.  “Their volunteers are providing incredible support for all of the Picnic on the Park events.”

Luncheon tickets are $35 with reserved tables of eight still available. Sponsorships and vendor opportunities for the luncheon and the all-day Picnic on the Park event also are available by calling Carla Alvarez at 713-289-0819 or visit www.picniconthepark.com.

Village Learning & Achievement Center is a 501(c) 3 non-profit charitable organization devoted to helping individuals with disabilities enjoy fuller lives in the Kingwood/Humble/Atascocita communities through training, support and residential programs.  For additional information visit  www.villagelac.org.
